Safari Meats was first started in 2005 by Floris and Lize Smit. Their main focus and prime product was meat.

In June 2008, it was succeeded by new management, Chris and Magda Basson. They are originally from Secunda, South Africa where they were also successfully involved in the meat industry.

After a while of running the business in its original form, Chris and Magda realized there was a great demand from South Africans (and also ex-Zimbabweans) for the traditional meat cuts (such as halwe skaap, agter kwart, hampers, and so on). They broke away from the organic brand and are now serving non-organic, free range meats.

Magda and Chris:

“ We believe in first aging the meat, given that it guarantees a softer and better tasting product. Our aged rump steak is renowned and in high demand in Christchurch. For a traditional braai (barbeque), we have a large variety of mouth watering products. For example, sosaties, oepsies, varknek steak, Texan (Blou Bul) steak, boerewors, en vele meer!

With our selection of South African products we try to bring “home” a little closer with Ouma Beskuit, Mrs' Balls Chutney, mieliemeel, Ingrams Campher Cream, Robinson Spices, koeksisters and much, much more! We also exchange South African magazines!”

To be within reach of everyone we make use of Courier services. We can serve the entire South Island. Orders can be made via telephone, fax, or email.

We all come from Africa and mutually understand the special needs and tastes of that continent.

Safari Meats is in 2005 deur Floris en Lize Smit begin. Hulle het hoofsaaklik organiese vleis bemark.

In Junie 2008 neem ons, Chris en Magda Basson die besigheid oor. Ons is oorspronklik van Secunda, Suid-Afrika waar ons ook in die vleisbedryf was.

Nadat ons Safari Meats vir 'n tyd in sy oorsponklike vorm bedryf het, het ons besef dat daar 'n groot behoefte onder die Suid-Afrikaners (en ook ex-Zimbabwiers) is na die tradisionele vleissnitte (soos heel / halwe skaap, agter kwart, hampers, ens). Ons het weggebreek van die organiese mark en bedien nou non-organic, free range vleis.

Ons glo daarin om die vleis eers ryp te maak, aangesien dit 'n sagter en smaakliker produk verseker. Ons rypgemaakte rump steak is alom bekend en gewild in Christchurch. Vir die tradisionele braai het ons ook 'n groot verskeidenheid interressante en smullekker produkte, soos bv sosaties, oepsies, varknek steak, Texan (Blou Bul) steak, boerewors, en vele meer!

Met die Suid-Afrikaanse produkte probeer ons "die huis" 'n bietjie nader bring, met Ouma Beskuit, Mrs' Balls Chutney, mieliemeel, Ingrams Campher Cream, Robinson Spices, koeksisters en nog baie meer! Ons ruil ook Suid-Afrikaanse tydskrifte uit!

Om binne almal se bereik te wees, maak ons gebruik van Courier dienste. Ons kan die hele Suid Eiland bedien. Bestellings kan telefonies, per faks of email geplaas word.

Ons kom almal uit Afrika en verstaan die besonderse behoefte en smake van daardie kontinent.
